Organizations

American Horticultural Therapy Association

AHTA is the place to start if you want to learn more about Horticultural Therapy. It's also the place to go if you're already practicing HT. It's also the place if you're looking for accredited programs... or internships... or events. My point it, AHTA is the place.

Horticultural Therapy Institute

HTI is a non-profit, accredited certificate program run by Rebecca Haller. I took the certificate program a few years ago and it changed my trajectory. I don't say lightly that Rebecca, and her right-hand-lady, Christine, are changing lives. If you're thinking of taking a certificate program for HT, please take this one.

Books

I have read each of these books, either for enjoyment or during my certificate program at HTI. I still refer to them when I have ideas or when I want suggestions. They are all packed with research and bring the practice of horticultural therapy to life.

Publications

Journal of Therapeutic Horticulture

The Journal of Therapeutic Horticulture is the professional journal of the AHTA. It's entirely peer-reviewed and published annually. It's always packed with case studies, research, or garden design inspiration. For AHTA members, you have full access to all issues. For non-members, each issue can be purchased and downloaded for $35. Member or not, these are really interesting reads and I think they are well worth the investment.
